New Music Release!

clay center

I have been bursting at the seams to announce the release of my second solo album, “Out of Thin Air”!! I’ll be holding the CD release event on Sunday, August 21st at the beautiful Morean Center for Clay in downtown St. Pete. Enjoy live performances of songs off the album with amazing aerial acrobatics provided by BB’s Dance & Circus Arts. Join (and please share!) the event and get your tickets in advance for a free digital single and discounts on album pre-orders!

“Out of Thin Air” was just a tiny little throw-away track that I wrote using some loops in GarageBand back in November 2014. I was trying to write it as an upbeat little ditty, buyticketsbut it totally wasn’t working. I found a plucked upright bass loop, edited the words down quite a bit, and recorded a scratch track right before I hit the bed at like 3am.  I didn’t think much of it.  I sent it to my musician friend Jeremy Douglass, and he sent back the HUGE track that you hear now which was just begging to be the title track.  And here we are! I hope you’ll help me celebrate, and I hope you’ll enjoy the music!

Special thanks go to James Zambon Photography for the beautiful album photo and graphics help, orig_facebook_logo_blackMorgan Liskey at Aislyn June Photography for album cover graphic design, Dance and Circus Arts of Tampa Bay for use of their facilities for the album cover and for providing beautiful aerialists for the CD Release event, and of course super special thanks to Jeremy Douglass at Toy Window Studio for working his production magic.

July 9 – Evangeline’s Bistro & Music House, St. Louis, MO
July 10 – Chicory Cafe, South Bend, IN
July 11 – Silvie’s Lounge, Chicago, IL
July 14 – Cafe Santé, Boyne City, MI
July 16 – Cafe Santé, Boyne City, MI

July 28 – Lookout Brewing Company – Asheville, NC
July 29 – D9 Brewing Company, Charlotte, NC
July 30 – World Of Beer, Gainesville, FL

(more details are listed on the calendar page)

This tour all started with the hair-brained idea to drive up to Michigan this year (instead of flying as I’ve done in the past) and attempt to play shows along the way.  The first show that came in once I expanded my email territory was the one in Knoxville, and I had to confirm it within 7 days.  This sent me in a manic email frenzy, as I was using that date and deadline to secure enough shows along the way to make the drive worth my while. 7 days later, I had about another two show offers along the route and decided I’d move forward with this expanded tour.

Now for some real talk.  It took me roughly two months of work to pull this together – including information gathering, spreadsheet making, sending over 400 emails/messages, receiving dozens of polite rejections while 63% of messages *still* remain unopened, not to mention the ones that were opened but received no reply.  If you do the math, 16 gigs booked out of 400 messages is a successful booking rate of 4%.  While that percentage is mildly soul-crushing, I’m really pleased with how the whole thing ultimately shaped up, though I still have a few venues/dates I’m pursuing.

It’s also worth noting that this tour would absolutely not be possible without the help and hospitality of several friends along the way who have offered me comfortable places to sleep with fantastic company!  I’m looking forward to spending time with old friends and making new ones along the way.

Please stay tuned and join the Facebook Event Page!

Top 6 Tampa Bay Bands to Know!

I am so honored to be included in I Love The ‘Burg‘s list of 6 Tampa Bay Bands to Know!  This is my first official unsolicited press, and they did a doozy of a write up:

From Michigan, to New York, to the Burg, Kasondra Rose mixes a polished pop sound with a vintage spin that transplants you to a smoky Greenwich Village speakeasy. Her voice is uplifting with a refined kickdrum rhythm with a few classic latin influences mixed in. She’s performed at almost every venue in St. Pete and finds ways to give each audience an altogether unique listening experience. – I Love The ‘Burg

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be among the fine talent listed in the article, which you can read in full here.
